The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on 12 June that according to Import and Export Bulletin No. 2/2025 issued by the Trade Department of the Myanmar Ministry of Commerce on 9 June 2025, 97 agricultural products, including rice and beans, will be exported under an automatic licensing system. The system will automatically issue licenses without the need for separate audits by the Trade Department, whereas the previous non-automated licensing system required traders to apply for and be audited before receiving a license.
The announcement pointed out that the Trade Department previously required all commodities exported through ports and border crossings to apply for an export license, but in order to promote the facilitation of export activities after the earthquake, 97 commodities are now adjusted to the automatic licensing system to ensure the smooth operation of exports. Specific adjustments include the transfer of 58 garlic, onion and bean commodities, 25 rice, corn, millet and wheat commodities, and 14 oilseed crop commodities from the non-automatic licensing system to the automatic licensing system. From June 15 to August 31, 2025, these 97 10-digit HS-coded commodities will be processed for export under the automatic licensing system through the Myanmar Tradenet 2.0 platform.
